Burnley reject Austin exit reports

Burnley have issued a statement denying that Charlie Austin is close to agreeing a move away from the Lancashire club.

The striker scored 24 goals in 37 games in the Championship last season and his impressive form has not gone unnoticed with reports that newly-promoted Premier League side Hull are on the verge of luring Austin to the KC Stadium.

However, Burnley have played down these rumours and revealed that several clubs have so far shown an interest in a player who was playing non-football league back in 2009.

These reports are wide of the mark, said a statement on Burnley s official website..

Quite understandably there have been enquiries from a number of clubs but none have met Burnley s valuation of the player.

Charlie Austin remains part of the squad of Burnley as we prepare for next season s matches.

The 23-year-old has been at Turf Moor since joining from Swindon Town in 2011 and has been a prolific for Burnley, averaging over a goal every other game during 90 appearances for the club.
