Pompey debt hits £120 mln mark

Debts at Premier League crisis club Portsmouth were revealed to be around 120 million pounds (185 million dollars) in total on Wednesday some 40 million pounds more than previously estimated.

Portsmouth, bottom of the table and already relegated after being deducted nine points last month for entering administration, sent a 70-page document to all their known creditors on Wednesday detailing their debts which include the 38.2 million owed to former owners in unsecured loans.

The club have passed through four owners this season in a series of moves that have done precious little for Portsmouth s off-the-field stability.

Hong Kong-based businessman Balram Chainrai, the club s most recent owner, is owed 14 million pounds, while Portsmouth s total unpaid bill to Bri…

Redknapp named manager of the year

(GSM) Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp has been named the English Premier League manager of the season. Redknapp won the award in the light of his side s break into the top-four, a fact which will secure the club Champions League qualification for the first time.

I m delighted to receive the award but it s a team effort with Kevin (Bond), Joe (Jordan), Clive (Allen), Tony (Parks), Tim (Sherwood), Les (Ferdinand) and all the coaching and fitness staff, he told the club s website.

Really, I m just part of the team.

It s all down to the players and what they ve achieved. It s down to them really and a real honour to receive it.

No intention to leave Tottenham – Lamela

Tottenham attacking midfielder Erik Lamela said it has never been his intention to move away from White Hart Lane.

The Argentina international has struggled to live up to his £27million price-tag since moving from Roma in 2013.

But Lamela has enjoyed a bright start to the 2015-16 season, helping Tottenham finish top of their group in the Europa League with a hat-trick against Monaco on Thursday.

The 23-year-old is happy with life in North London, despite constant reports linking him with a move away.

It seems that every summer I have been here there have been suggestions I might be leaving. I don’t know why that came about but no way was I leaving,  Lamela said, via the Mirror.

It has never been my intention to do that.

Peru 2 Paraguay 0: Gareca´s men finish third at Copa

Peru ended their 2015 Copa America campaign on a high, overcoming Paraguay 2-0 in the third-place match in Concepcion on Friday.

Andre Carrillo and Paolo Guerrero were the heroes for Peru, who also finished third four years ago, with their second-half goals proving the difference at Estadio Municipal Alcaldesa Ester Roa Rebolledo.

After their semi-final exit to hosts Chile and dour opening half, Carrillo volleyed beyond Justo Villar in the 48th minute.

And Guerrero netted late on as Peru claimed consecutive third-place finishes at the premier South American tournament.

There were changes to both teams, with Peru pair Christian Ramos and Yordy Reyna starting in place of Jefferson Farfan, who did not pass a late fitness test, and Carlos Zambrano (suspended)…

As we continue through the month of April there are still plenty of things left to be determined in English football s top tier from the title picture to the relegation battle and beyond. Many fans feel as if they know the direction of travel with some choosing to look ahead to the Euros already, but before we get to all of that, there s still a great deal of intrigue behind some of the remaining fixtures and that includes Leicester City vs West Bromwich Albion.

Leicester

Valencia turn attention to Soldado

Spanish club Valencia are targetting Getafe s Roberto Soldado as a replacement for David Villa after cooling their interest in Toulouse forward Andre Pierre Gignac. Los Che are looking for reinforcements upfront after selling Villa to La Liga champions Barcelona and Nikola Zigic to Birmingham City last month.

Toulouse were demanding 15 million euros for Gignac, a figure that looked a bit too steep for Valencia.

The Soldado deal could be wrapped up for something close to ten million, according to sources. Valencia are also said to be eyeing Mallorca forward Aritz Aduriz should their bid for Soldado fail.

Soldado scored sixteen goals in the 2009-10 La Liga season, giving him sixth place in the overall standings. Aduriz, on the other hand, netted twelve as Mallorca…

Germany coach ´to continue´ with new contract

German coach Joachim Loew will be handed a new contract as a reward for guiding Germany to the World Cup semi-finals it was reported by the normally reliable Bild on Friday.

Juventus eyeing Isco; Fiorentina in ambitious bid for Zouma

Juventus eyeing Isco

Italian champions Juventus are considering a move for Real Madrid hotshot Isco, .

The Bianconeri have been showing interest in the Spain international for a couple of months now and they attempted to recruit the talented footballer this summer.

However, while Real Madrid were not keen on selling, Isco, too, was not ready to leave Santiago Bernabeu.

The situation could now change considering the fact that the first two games of the season have proved that the midfielder would struggle for playing time under Rafael Benitez.

And with Juventus expected to stay without Paul Pogba, the Bianconeri could return for Isco either in January or next summer.

Isco, 23, has shown a great deal of potential since joining Real Madrid f…

West Brom v Everton: Martinez has faith in Lukaku

Roberto Martinez insists Romelu Lukaku s lack of goals is not a concern as he prepares to take his Everton side to West Brom in the Premier League on Monday.

The Belgium international, who spent the 2012-13 season on loan at The Hawthorns, has not scored in the top flight since netting a brace at Southampton on August 15 his only league goals of the season so far.

But despite seeing his side held to a goalless draw at Swansea City last time out in the league, Martinez is not panicked by his star striker s mini drought.

Rom has started the season really well, as has Ross [Barkley] and all the players that were involved in the World Cup two summers ago, he told Everton s official website.

They had a really good break this time, were able to work with …
